Vitalsens patient database software package receives EU regulatory seal of approval.

Intelesens recently completed the development of a robust, multi-user patient vital signs database product, code named Canberra, which receives and stores data transmitted from its Vitalsens body-worn remote monitoring devices. The company announced today that this software product, which complements its Vitalsens devices, had been awarded CE regulatory approval.
Intelesens's Vitalsens multi-parameter, body-worn, wireless monitoring device received CE class IIa regulatory approval in December. Vitalsens is a wearable, non-intrusive health monitor comprising a disposable electrode patch and a reusable clip-on transmitter. Data relating to the wearer's health, including heart rate, ecg, temperature and levels of activity are measured in the chest area and can be transmitted via Bluetooth, Ant wireless, wi-fi or GPRS to software residing on a pc or laptop in the wearer's home, in a ward or via the cellphone network to a secure server. This health information can then be accessed by the clinician either locally or remotely.
The company foresees applications for this low-cost breakthrough technology in the management of care for both chronically ill patients at home and to monitor the health of both in-patients and out-patients attending hospital. Clinical trials are currently underway in an NHS Hospital with first results due to be published later this Spring.
